Mabon, the Autumn Equinox, is a sacred time to pause and honor balance, harvest, and the blessings in our lives. These two simple rituals invite you to connect with gratitude in a grounded, magical way. You can do one or both, whatever feels right for your practice.
Part 1: The Apple Offering Spell
This ritual helps you symbolically “plant” your gratitude and intentions for the season ahead.
You’ll need:
- One apple
- A small piece of paper and pen
- A quiet outdoor space or a pot of soil
Steps:
- Write down three things you’re grateful for on the paper.
- Slice the apple in half and place the paper between the halves.
- Bury the apple in soil, saying:
“As the earth receives this gift, may gratitude grow within me.” - Leave the spot undisturbed and trust that your intentions are rooted.
Part 2: The Gratitude Candle Ritual
This ritual is perfect for cozy evenings and can be done anytime during Mabon week (around September 21-23).
You’ll need:
- One candle (orange, brown, gold, or any color that feels grounding)
👉 Candle Colors and Their Meanings
Steps:
- Choose a candle to be your Gratitude Candle.
- Before lighting, take a moment to reflect:
What blessings have I received this year? - Light the candle and say:
“With this flame, I honor the gifts in my life. May gratitude guide me through the turning season.” - Let the candle burn fully as a symbolic release, or light it a little each day, returning to your intention each time.
These rituals are gentle, meaningful, and easy to personalize. Whether you’re a seasoned witch or simply seeking a moment of reflection, Mabon offers a beautiful space to reconnect with what truly matters.
