In the Dead Sea Scrolls, he is described as the King of Evil, the Angel of Darkness, and the adversary of the Angel of Light. He is said to bring guilt, temptation, and spiritual pollution to mankind through three symbolic “nets”: fornication, wealth, and defilement of the sacred.

In The Lesser Key of Solomon, Belial is listed as the 68th spirit, appearing as a beautiful angel seated in a chariot of fire, a nod to his former celestial status before his fall. This duality, angelic beauty masking infernal intent, reflects his role as a master of deception and seduction.

Belial’s influence extends beyond religious texts into literature and philosophy. He appears in John Milton’s Paradise Lost as a smooth-talking demon who advocates for subtlety and manipulation over brute force. In The Testament of the Twelve Patriarchs, he is described as the tempter who draws souls away from divine truth through lust and pride.

Some occult traditions even regard Belial as the true ruler of Earth, a sovereign force of lawlessness who governs not through chaos alone, but through strategic corruption. He is said to favor those who embrace their shadow selves, reject imposed morality, and seek personal sovereignty, regardless of the cost.
